About Me:

I am a Northern New Hampshire gal who loves food and adventure! I live in a converted 1999 International Bluebird School Bus (AKA a skoolie) with my boyfriend Thomas & our pups: Ellie & Buster. I love cooking, strength training, margaritas, yoga, traveling, eating, and dismantling diet culture!

I am so, so fortunate to be an Intuitive Eater. I grew up in a house that food wasn’t scarce, food wasn’t used as a reward or punishment, and I didn’t receive comments about my body shape or size (to be clear this is due to my unearned thin-privilege).

Yet, I watched my parents swing from diet to diet. Atkins, juice cleanses, South Beach, Weight Watchers…you name it- they’ve tried it! I‘d watch weight come off and come back on. I’d watch the daily punishment style exercise routines come and go. I’d hear about the daily weigh-ins and watch the scale dictate their moods.

Amazingly, they did not pass dieting on to me. I watched them suffer and knew from an early age I did not want to go down that same path. This is why I am so passionate about helping others to get off the “dieting struggle bus” and start living! Food is meant to be savored, movement (or exercise) should be fun, and I’m telling you- your life’s purpose is not to shrink your body.

So what’s with the name?

I’m not like a regular Dietitian, I’m a cool Dietitian! My business is named 21st Century RD because I am a Registered Dietitian committed to providing effective, evidence, compassionate nutrition care. My nutrition therapy style is relaxed- inserting humor where possible, providing a comfortable and safe space, and allowing you to be the one driving the boat. If you’ve experienced the old-school Dietitians that encourage rigid food rules (or essentially Eating Disorder behaviors), weird plastic food models, and unhelpful handouts. I’m so sorry-on behalf of my profession, I know the harm that experience can cause. Let’s ditch the old school harmful ways and try something new.

Bottom line: I want to help you find food freedom, so that you can be the most bad a$$ version of yourself, that doesn’t need a scale, calorie tracker, or Fitbit to tell you how to live your life.

EXPERIENCE:

I have been a practicing Registered Dietitian since 2016. I received my bachelors degree at the University of New Hampshire. I then completed my dietetic internship in Denver, Colorado through Penrose St. Francis. I worked in the clinical in-patient setting, focusing on diabetes management, for 3 years before starting my private practice. I am a certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and a Health At Every Size aligned practitioner.
